Embraer delivers the first E195-E2

for Brazilian airline

At Embraer's invitation, IT'S MORE THAN FLYING was present at  another legacy of history for the Brazilian aeronautics industry. In this year,  aircraft manufacturer Embraer completed  50 years. A week after the first delivery of the largest military aircraft built in Latin America, the KC-390, the  third largest aircraft manufacturer in the world is 'is more than flying', now it was the time of the first delivery of the  largest commercial aircraft built in Brazil, the E195-E2, for the Brazilian launch customer. The aircraft already has a defined destination and the month for the start of operations on a regular basis with passengers. Read in detail.

Embraer delivered on September 12, 2019 -  the first E195-E2 jet for AerCap, the world's largest aircraft leasing company. This delivery will be used by a Brazilian airline operating on commercial flights, under registration PR-PJN. In a ceremony at Embraer's headquarters, located in São José dos Campos, the aircraft was presented to the press, guests and employees of the airline.

The airline also became the world launch operator for the E195-E2, the largest of the three aircraft in the E-Jets E2 family of commercial jets. The airline has ordered 51 planes of the same model and will receive another five units in 2019.

“This delivery is a very important occasion,” said John Slattery, President & CEO of Embraer Commercial Aviation. “It is the largest commercial aircraft that Embraer has ever produced. Passengers will love the new interior, and airlines will be impressed by the extraordinary operational efficiency. The jet is undoubtedly ideal for the Brazilian operator's low-fare business model and for the AerCap lessor's fleet portfolio. I'm proud of the entire Embraer team who worked so hard to see this day.”

The airline will operate the E195-E2 in a single-class configuration, with 136 seats, on various domestic and international routes. During the  In a press conference, John Rodgerson, president of the airline, stated that the E2 will generate more employability in Brazil. To operate the E2 it was estimated that operating this aircraft generates 90 indirect jobs, 200 direct jobs.

The new E2 aircraft with registration PR-PJN already has its inaugural destination for the regular flight carrying passengers, the chosen city is Brasília-DF. Still during the  In interviews, Rodgerson said that 90 passengers on board the E2 already cover the operating costs for "such" flight in operation by the company in the country and added that the biggest problem is not just the price of aviation fuel in Brazil for the airline to operate, goes beyond that, and highlighted the “empty seats on flights”, with “wrong” aircraft in some destinations according to demand during the period of the year.

In the last 10 years, the airline's first E195-E2 revolutionized the aviation market in Brazil. It doubled the domestic market, including air service to several regions, cities and communities that have never had flights before, all thanks to the aircraft of the predecessor version, the Embraer E195 (also known as the 'E-jet'). Now, with the E195-E2, the airline is ready to initiate innovation in the history of Brazilian aviation.

“We couldn't be more proud to fly even higher with an aircraft built with Brazilian technology and innovation,” said David Neeleman, founder and chairman of the airline's first E2 board. “The E2 represents a major step in the transformation of the fleet, further enhancing our margin expansion,” concluded Neeleman.

“Everyone at AerCap is excited to deliver the first Embraer E195-E2 to the operator in Brazil. We have no doubt that this incredible aircraft will take two Brazilian leaders to a new level. We wish Embraer and the operator every success with the E-Jets E2 program and look forward to working with both companies for many, many years to come,” said Aengus Kelly, CEO of AerCap.

In April, the E195-E2 received the Type Certificate from three regulatory bodies: the National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC), the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the European Aviation Safety Agency ( European Aviation Safety Agency – EASA).

Flight tests confirmed that the aircraft is even better than the original specification. Fuel consumption is 1.4% lower than expected, achieving 25.4% savings per seat compared to the first generation E195. Maintenance costs are 20% lower and the E195-E2 is the most environmentally friendly aircraft in its category, operating with the lowest level of emissions and external noise. The cumulative margin for the ICAO Stage IV noise threshold ranges from 19 to 20 EPNdB, 4.0 EPNdB less than its direct competitor.

Like the E190-E2, the E195-E2 also has the longest maintenance intervals in the single-aisle aircraft market, with 10,000 flight hours for basic maintenance activities and no schedule limit for typical E-Jet operations. . That means 15 days more to use the aircraft in a ten-year period compared to the current generation of E-Jets.

The E195-E2 features new high-performance engines, completely new wings (a new wing shape eliminating the famous E1 version winglets and then receiving the wingtip in this current version), complete fly-by-wire and a new landing gear. Compared to the first generation E195, 75% of the aircraft's systems are new. The E195-E2 has three additional rows of seats. The cabin can be configured with 120 seats in two classes or up to 146 in single class.

Embraer and the airline also signed a long-term agreement for a repairable parts support program for the airline's new fleet of E195-E2 jets. The airline joined Embraer's Pool of Services Program in December 2008, when it began operating the first generation E-Jets, and more recently the Maintenance Management Program. With this new support contract, the airline now has coverage for its entire fleet of Embraer jets.
