The Highlights of LABACE 2022

We start here with some highlights of LABACE 2022 with TAM Executive Aviation, official representative of the manufacturers Beechcraft, Cessna and Bell, in addition to the world leader in training, FlightSafety, was present as the largest exhibitor for the 5th consecutive edition.

Holder of the largest and most versatile portfolio of executive aircraft in the country, consisting of 23 products, including fixed-wing models (single and twin piston aircraft, turbo-propellers and executive jets) and rotary-wing models (among single-engine, twin-engine and parapublic helicopters) , the company brought a sample of this variety to the event and presented nine aircraft to the fair's public.

In addition to the already traditional ultramodern models equipped with the latest technological advances, this year TAM AE is taking a dip in history and exclusively brought two relics to the event: the single-engine Cessna 180, manufactured in the 60's, and a Cessna 195, manufactured in 50's and which belonged to Commander Rolim, its founder.

“It is wonderful to be able to see such different products in the same space, with such different technologies, but guided by the same driving force, which is the need to fly. And the most incredible thing is to see the evolution of the sector, which resulted in what we have today, modern aircraft, equipped with the latest technology”, said Leonardo Fiuza, president of TAM AE. “The need to fly is timeless, but the way of flying has changed. And fortunately, our products followed and, in many cases, dictated this evolution”, he added.

Cessna 195 – Manufactured in 1951, this is a post-World War II general aviation classic that brought the comfort and luxury of an executive aircraft to piston models. The Cessna 195 was acquired by João Amaro at an auction in Cuiabá, after 11 years abandoned at the city's airport. The plane was restored by his brother, Commander Rolim, and, years later, inspired the creation of the Asas de um Sonho Museum.

Cessna 180-F – year 1963, was a model that was very successful in Brazil, widely used on farms and in mines, where the tracks were not paved. Its production ended in 1985, but until today it is common to see it operating in various activities. This model was donated by Commander Peri Igel and is the same as the aircraft used by Commander Rolim and João Amaro at the beginning of their careers.

In addition to the classic Cessnas, TAM Aviação excutiva brought the Citation Latitude planes equipped with two P&W PW306D1 engines, which have a range of flying a radius of 2,700 NM / 5,000 km, at a maximum cruising speed of 446 kts / 826 km/h. with capacity for two pilots and up to nine passengers, Garmin G5000 avionics suite with touch screen interface (no buttons) and cabin with completely flat floor (1.83 m high by 1.95 m wide), allowing one person to standing. It also has the Clarity system, developed by Cessna in partnership with the American company Heads Up Technologies, which brings together electrical, data and communications systems – all connected by fiber optics and controlled from the seat by a totally intuitive touch screen. The Jet arrives at LABACE at a FOB price of US$19,995,000.00 (exclusive of tax).

Citation CJ3+ – Certified for single pilot operation and has a number of new systems designed to reduce crew workload. The model features an integrated avionics suite, the Garmin G3000, with weather radar, turbulence detection system, advanced terrain warning system (TAWS-B) and ADS-B communication support, which make it compatible with the requirements of Next Generation (NextGen) air traffic control.

Its cabin also has a wireless server, Iridium satellite telephone, high-speed internet and an automatically controlled pressurization system, in addition to a fault diagnosis system, which facilitates maintenance. FOB Price: USD 10,415,000.00 (without taxes).

Citation M2 Gen2 - The latest updates to the Citation M2 aircraft reinforce the model's focus on pilot and passenger comfort as well as productivity. A thoughtfully designed aircraft from front to back, the Citation M2 Gen2 brings an enhanced cabin experience that includes a new premium interior, enhanced ambient lighting, remastered illuminated cup holders and additional baggage compartment accessible from inside the cabin.

Productivity has also been enhanced with the latest in in-cab technology, such as wireless charging capabilities and USB-A ports in each cabin seat. In the cockpit, three inches of legroom has been added to the co-pilot position for added comfort. In addition, the cabin entrance has been improved to ensure durability and easier maintenance. FOB Price: USD 6,150,000.00 (without taxes).

King Air 360 – Featured at LABACE and for the first time at the Event. The King Air turboprop family is the “darling” of agribusiness in Brazil. Approximately 7,600 King Air aircraft have been delivered since 1964. It is the best-selling turboprop family in the world. The King Air 360 represents the next generation, built on its reputation for versatility and reliability.

AGS Logistics, a pioneer company in the aerospace logistics segment, signed a letter of intent together with Safran for the electrification of the AGS fleet that it serves in Brazil.

“We will introduce the first electric vehicle right away, but it will be the first of many. In addition to all our concern for sustainability, in the packaging of transported items, in the booth used at LABACE, we are now creating 100% electric routes. They are not just hybrids,” said Alexandre Gulla, CEO and founder of AGS.

For François Haas, from Safran, the moment is very important, as the company has bold goals in reducing emissions. “We have to reach 2030 with a 50% reduction and we want to be neutral in 2050. The pressure on the aviation industry is great, so we need to count on partners to become increasingly sustainable, so I thank AGS for the initiative and proactiveness”, Haas said.

The first electric vehicle chosen by AGS to transport parts and engines is the 100% electric BYD eT3 van. The model, according to the manufacturer's data, avoids the emission of 13.8 tons of CO2 per year into the atmosphere, the equivalent of planting 99 trees per vehicle (considering 54,000 km traveled/year). The vehicle has a capacity of 3,300 liters, is silent and has a battery that can be charged in an hour.

Cirrus Aircraft was present bringing the Cirrus Vision Jet G2 Plus, with onboard artificial intelligence, which allows for an emergency landing with the press of just one button.

The Cirrus Vision Jet G2 has onboard WiFi and new trim options. “The Vision Jet G2 Plus is the next step in the ongoing transformation of personal aviation,” says Zean Nielsen, CEO of Cirrus Aircraft. “The improvement in take-off performance, and the implementation of onboard Wi-Fi, show Cirrus Aircraft's concern to constantly meet emerging customer demands. This new model means another evolution for personal aviation, which was only possible due to the excellence of the Cirrus Aircraft team.”

The Vision Jet is a recent advance in conjunction with regulatory bodies through the certification of the Safe Return autonomous landing system, which offers passengers the ability to land the plane at the touch of a button in an emergency. Recently, Garmin International's autonomous landing technology was recognized with the Robert J. Collier Trophy award, which the previous year was awarded to Cirrus Aircraft for developing the Vision Jet. With the combination of Safe Return and CAPS (Cirrus Parachute System), the Vision Jet offers a comprehensive safety experience.

“The Vision Jet represents the super evolution of the SR line and provides a flight experience that includes mobility, comfort and safety”, says Plane Aviation director Sérgio Beneditti.

Currently, the total number of Vision jets in operation in the world already exceeds 350 units, with more than 500 pilots trained. In Brazil, there are 10 jets so far and there will be 13 by the end of the year. To support Brazilian customers, Cirrus has a sales center, a pilot training center, two parts distribution centers and 26 service centers authorized by ANAC (National Civil Aviation Agency).

Amaro Aviation was at LABACE for the first time. The executive aviation company took two novelties to the event: the Pilatus PC-24 executive jet and a lounge with a reproduction of the services offered on board. The idea was to allow the visitor to have the experience of a passenger when boarding an Amaro flight.

In this space, which was open to the public, guests could try the food served by Amaro during the flight, in addition to experiencing all the comfort of a trip with Amaro.

“Customer service is one of our differentials, and that we brought this experience to LABACE. We work with the best products and a highly specialized team to ensure a unique experience. All companies have aircraft, but our differential is in the high standard of services”, said Marcos Amaro, CEO of Amaro Aviation.

Another novelty presented by Amaro Aviation at the event was the long-awaited PC-24, which was also at LABACE for the first time. The aircraft is part of the company's sharing program – an operating model in which the person buys a share of an aircraft and shares the operating costs with other partners.

The PC-24 is the only aircraft that combines the versatility of a turboprop with the cabin size of a medium jet and the performance of a light jet. It is a business jet designed to operate on short runways and even without paving. The aircraft accommodates up to ten passengers and up to two crew members.

Amaro Aviation announced recent acquisitions: an Embraer Phenom 300E, which is expected to arrive in the company's fleet in 2024, and three Cessna Grand Caravan EX aircraft, scheduled to be delivered in the second quarter of 2023. In addition to the PC-24, Amaro also has a PC-12 NGX, considered the best aircraft in the world in its category.

The largest helicopter manufacturers Airbus / Helibras presented at LABACE the ACH145 Mercedes-Benz helicopters, the ACH130 Line and the ACH125 Line live. The ACH160 and ACJ220 were also present in the form of mockups.

On the eve of LABACE, Airbus Helicopters / Helibras delivered the world's first ACH160 to a customer in Brazil. The monoturbine has officially become the first H160 to fly in Latin America.

"We are very proud that the world's first ACH160 has been delivered here in Brazil, and we look forward to seeing its distinctive and elegant silhouette soar through the skies of São Paulo," said Jean-Luc Alfonsi, Managing Director of Airbus Helicopters' Brazilian customer subsidiary, Helibras "Helibras is a leader in the Brazilian segment of executive turbine helicopters and we are confident that the ACH160 will set new standards for consumers and operators who want to make a differentiated choice in terms of safety, comfort and performance."

According to data from the Brazilian General Aviation Association (ABAG), more than 2,500 airports and 1,300 heliports in Brazil use corporate aviation services with jets, turboprops, piston planes and helicopters. "The growing general aviation market is crucial to increasing economic and social productivity, as well as maintaining the country's air connectivity", highlights Alfonsi.

The ACH160 is the latest member of the ACH family and the most advanced and technological helicopter in its class. The aircraft has 20% more passenger volume compared to previous generation medium helicopters, 35% larger windows than its competitors, resulting in the brightest cabin in its class, and 15% lower fuel consumption than its competitor. closer.

The ACH160 family was developed in three versions - Line, Line with Lounge package, and Exclusive - to satisfy the different needs of this demanding market, with different levels of customization and unparalleled sophistication to better adapt to the lifestyle of each customer. The ACH160's design, claiming sixty-eight new patents, signals innovation that exceeds expectations. The single-turbine comes with improved safety features and sets a new standard for passenger comfort. Innovations include the angled Fenestron for increased payload and a flat position in flight, plus the sound-reducing Blue Edge rotor blades for quieter operations.

Embraer and Avantto announced, during the LABACE 2022 edition, an Embraer Executive Care Program contract to support the company's executive jet fleet. A leader in the aircraft sharing sector in Brazil, Avantto currently has a fleet of seven Phenom jets, four of which are the Phenom 100 model and three are the Phenom 300 model. Currently, more than 700 aircraft are part of Embraer Executive Care globally.

Embraer also announced a partnership with VOAR Aviation with the objective of offering unscheduled services to Embraer executive aviation customers at Congonhas airport, in São Paulo. As a result, Embraer continues to strengthen its component maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) and Fixed Base Operator (FBO) operations to meet the growth of executive aviation in Brazil.

LABACE is a point of connection for companies including companies segmented in foreign trade, one of them is Timbro, the company operates with import for third parties (including aircraft), export of commodities and distribution of consumer goods. Currently, the company estimates that it is responsible for 30% of executive aircraft imports in the country – the volume of operations increased by 171% in the comparison of the 1st Semester of 2022 with the 1st Semester of 2021.

Philipe Figueiredo, CCO of Timbro was present at the event and talked to visitors and guests about the process of importing aircraft, the heating up of the used market, the good moment for the executive aviation segment and the increasingly diversified demand in relation to aircraft types by customers. Philipe can also talk about the barter option, unique on the market, where an agricultural or mining producer can pay for part of the aircraft using their own production – soy, corn, coffee, sugar, cotton and ore. Timbro has developed a work model focused on simplifying international business processes. According to Philipe Figueiredo, CCO of Imports for Third Parties, “the great advantage in importing an aircraft with Timbro is the simplification of the entire operation. The aircraft arrives ready for the buyer.”

“Today, 1/3 of our revenue in the aviation operation comes from turboprops, piston-engined planes and rotary wings, and the rest is distributed among light, medium and large jets”, Philipe details. The increase in demand diversification fully applies to the Brazilian market. “The trend is towards increasing diversification. Our country has continental dimensions, low coverage by commercial aviation and a production chain spread geographically and strong in several sectors. Executive aviation is a solution to many obstacles and therefore attracts customers who are entering the market with specific needs, considering the value of the aircraft, type of operation, hangar and maintenance”, explained the executive.

The demand greater than the supply for new aircraft, added to the renewal of the current fleet - which occurs with the completion of orders placed in 2021 and 2020 -, will increase the used market. Foreign owners who acquired a new aircraft usually sell the current one, causing the market to receive a relevant volume of used aircraft and helicopters. “A pre-owned aircraft in good condition, undergoing proper maintenance and nationalization done correctly, is a good option for the Brazilian buyer who is purchasing their first plane or helicopter, as it will have a more attractive cost than the new one and will be delivered in less time".

Another company focused on foreign trade, COMEXPORT, brought news to LABACE 2022 with a partner of Mercedes-Benz Cars & Vans Brasil in the process of importing the brand's cars - it presents the recently launched Mercedes-AMG EQS 53 4MATIC+, a high-quality vehicle. performance and 100% electric. The companies were together in a stand, where the luxury sedan was exposed.

“Innovation is in the history of our company. For the resumption of work at LABACE, we follow our tradition. In this partnership with Mercedes-Benz, we had, in an unprecedented way, the presentation of a luxury car at the fair”, said Rodrigo Teixeira, Commercial Vice President of COMEXPORT. “We are very proud to have the confidence of Mercedes-Benz in the process of importing the brand's first high-performance electric car. This is an example of our ability to generate customer value through complete solutions in foreign trade”, he highlighted.

“The EQS 53 is a luxury car in every detail and with exceptional performance. It is another firm step in our global strategy of electrifying our portfolio. We are absolutely sure that LABACE is the right place for us to showcase this modern wonder on wheels,” said Carlos Garcia, CEO and President of Mercedes-Benz Cars & Vans Brazil.

The luxury sedan, the first all-electric AMG production model, boasts high performance and unique design. Its main highlight is the new MBUX Hyperscreen, with three integrated screens that revolutionize the concept of interior design and high technical capacity for superior information processing, raising the standard of interactivity on board.

During LABACE, BR Aviation, the national leader in the distribution of aviation fuels, announced the BR Aviation Club Relationship Program and the BR Aviation Card, reinforcing the relationship with customers and partners, in addition to seeking new adhesions. On the second day of the event, former Formula 1 driver Felipe Massa was present at the BR Aviation stand. New to Stock Car, Massa is a teammate of Julio Campos, from Paraná, in the Lubrax Podium Stock Car Team.

In addition, the public also saw a preview of the evolution of the Hangarar application: Beyond EFB. Developed and managed by startup Hangarar, of which BR Aviation has been a partner since 2020, the tool brings many more features, and its main novelty is to allow the pilot to make the flight plan through the application, in addition to having access to the various documents of the flight journey. , such as supply history and debt inquiries, in addition to contracting various services from specialized providers throughout Brazil. The supply will be exclusive to BR Aviation, and there is also the offer of other services operated by partner companies. And one of the novelties in Beyond goes literally 'beyond': the pilot will not only plan the flight more assertively, but will also have the possibility to neutralize the flight's greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. The user will be able to consult the amount of carbon that the flight emitted, see the cost, pay and at the end receive the certificate in the registered email. All credits will be generated in projects monitored and verified by independent international bodies.

Air BP, an international supplier of fuel and fueling services for aviation, presented its new plans for the Brazilian market. Recently, Brazil was defined by Air BP as one of the countries with the greatest growth potential and part of its global expansion strategy. Confident in the sector's recovery, Air BP will focus its investments in the areas of infrastructure, necessary to support sustainable growth. In this way, the company started the supply project at Congonhas Airport (in São Paulo, SP). The expectation is to start operating in 2024, serving commercial and general aviation flights. Another investment that Air BP announced at the LABACE Fair is the development of a new supply point in Paulínia, in the interior of São Paulo. This operation is expected to open in 2023. The new terminal will increase logistical flexibility and provide more options for customers, mainly serving the growing market in the state of São Paulo. Approximately R$ 50 million will be invested in the two projects.

“For Air BP, LABACE is not just a business fair, but a relationship fair. Our main objective is to strengthen and improve connections with our customers, meeting pilots, executives and aviation professionals”, explained Ricardo Paganini, president of Air BP South America. “During the event, we had the opportunity to talk in person, understand new trends and listen to customer needs. As we are in full market recovery, this chance to approach and listen is very important, as it allows us to create service perspectives to always offer the best solutions to the market and partners”.

The Air BP stand had a meeting room and space for socializing. On the booth's screens, educational videos about SAF, the acronym for sustainable aviation fuel – one of the company's projects for the future of aviation.

Goodyear, one of the largest tire manufacturers in the world and one of the main in aviation, presented technology and innovation through its products at the event was the Flight Eagle, a tire that contains a more resistant carcass and which it houses in its tread. grooves specially designed to promote less wear and at the same time be efficient on wet floors. Another feature of this compound is its excellent resistance to the effects of sunlight and ozone. The model shown at the event is already approved to be applied to Embrarer aircraft such as Legacy, Praetor and Phenom.

“Goodyear has always been at the forefront of aviation, with more than 110 years of history. Today, the brand is in evidence in commercial airlines and aviation in general, in addition to executive jets, offering superior performance and contributing to our customers being able to reduce operating costs with safety and superior performance, regardless of the applications”, added Fernando Miranda, manager of Aviation Latin America at Goodyear, noting that the quality of Goodyear products is seen as the main reason for the brand to be number one in the choice of pilots, mechanics and operators, offering an incomparable level of innovation and excellence.

Worldwide, Goodyear has two facilities for the manufacture of new tires for aircraft (Danville, United States and Bangkok, Thailand) and five operations for retreading, two in the USA, one in Thailand, one in the Netherlands and another in Brazil.

“Our Brazilian unit is the only one approved by ANAC (National Civil Aviation Agency) to retreade tires for aeronautical use. We serve all of Latin America”, concludes the executive.

The 18th edition of LABACE is expected to take place in August 2023.

Note: WE'RE MORE THAN FLY we limited the photos during LABACE 2022 due to "lack of empathy" for us when receiving during the visit to the stand. With this, we take this attitude, not to disclose through our photos (do this marketing) and to advertise the product of these exhibitors due to this "lack of empathy and arrogance" with us through press officers / exhibitors. We hope that next time you will be more receptive to visitors who can be future customers for these exhibitors.
