We flew at the debut of VoePASS

for the flight Ribeirão Preto-São Paulo (Congonhas Airport)

At exactly 10:07 am, the PR-PDL took to the skies of São Paulo as it took off from Congonhas for its debut flight to Ribeirão Preto. There will be 26 daily flights to cities in the states of São Paulo, Minas Gerais, Rio de Janeiro and Mato Grosso do Sul. Read in detail how the debut flight was and beautiful photos by us.

VOEPASS Linhas Aéreas and MAP Linhas Aéreas began operating at Congonhas Airport, in São Paulo, as of this Sunday, October 27, 2019. The first cities served are Ribeirão Preto/SP (RAO), Bauru/SP ( BAU), Araçatuba/SP (ARU), Macaé/RJ (MEA), Dourados/MS (DOU),  Marília/SP (MII) and Uberaba/MG (UBA). See photos here.

In total, there will be 26 daily flights at the São Paulo airport, totaling 158 weekly operations, all with ATR 72 model aircraft. For VOEPASS, entry into the most profitable Brazilian airport marks a moment of consolidation and the prospect of growth. With the start of operations in Congonhas, companies will operate 35 destinations in all regions of the country. The projection is that in the next 12 months, around 1.5 million passengers will be transported.

The debut flight of Voe Pass and MAP in Congonhas

Invited by Voe Pass, É MORE THAN VOAR had the pleasure of being present on the debut flight to Ribeirão Preto (RAO) of the new operation and new phase of Voe Pass with the announcement of a partnership between MAP and GOL.

At around 9:10 am, check-in was cleared for the debut flight (2Z 2234) connecting to Ribeirão Preto through counters 65-66-67-68.

At the departure gate, at around 9:25 am, the ceremony was held with a “ribbon cutting” through gate 22 for the debut flight to Bauru (BAU) operated by MAP. Then, through gate 21, around 9:30 am, it was time for the ceremony and “ribbon cutting” of our flight to RAO with the action of Eduardo Bush, Executive Director of Voe Pass.

Boarding carried out, and soon we boarded the bus that took us to the aircraft where it was located in position 22 of the apron in Congonhas.

Our debut aircraft is the “Bem-te-vi”, an ATR-72-600 operational registration PR-PDL (Papa-Romeo – Papa Delta Lima), already with the new "VOE PASS" logo and the new paintwork of the company. On board, the flight crew were: Commander Felício (Icone and illustrious Voe Pass and one of the Founders of Passaredo) and First Officer Gilberto Mignella along with flight attendants Tamyris Parreira and Bianca Curzio. In addition, the presence on board of Eduardo Bush, executive director of Voe Pass.

We took some photos of the aircraft from the outside while the passengers boarded and I soon learned that the seat was free for the debut flight, however, we had reserved the window seat number 13A, which is already in the rear section of the aircraft after the wing.

As the seat was free choice for this flight, we switched to seat 10A, as seat 13A that we had reserved was already occupied by another passenger. As we settled into the seat, we noticed some dirty aircraft windows both on the outside and inside, leaving the view through the window a little frosted to the outside environment. “sad”, but nothing disheartening for a passenger who does not have this interest during the trip, I believe that this detail would not bother you. On the inside, we cleaned our window with a camera lens cleaning cloth and everything was fine.

Our flight used the Congonhas Departure plan with the NINVU 2B procedure, with transition through VOR SCB (VOR Sorocaba).

At exactly 10:07 am, the PR-PDL took to the skies of São Paulo when taking off from Congonhas for its debut flight to Ribeirão Preto, with an estimated flight duration of 55 minutes to the location. And Sunday was perfect for flying, in clear skies, CAVOK with few clouds.

According to the NINVU 2B procedure, upon reaching 3800 feet of altitude, it is necessary to make a left turn in order to join the bearing of radial 273 of the VOR CGO (VOR Congonhas) and follow the route to the NINVU fix. Our aircraft gains altitude when taking off on 35L from Congonhas, and when we start to fly over São Paulo's Jockey Club, we reach altitude 3,950 feet, thus making our left turn in search of VOR CGO heading 273 to intercept the NINVU fix , as per the flight plan. The landscape is beautiful with a view of the University City of São Paulo and a little further on the horizon the neighborhood of Jaguaré and the city of Osasco.

Still on the rise, the PR-PDL reaches flight attitude 7000 feet and intercepts the NINVU landline (this imaginary landline on the chart is close to Régis Bittencourt Highway, in the Potuvera neighborhood in Itapecerica da Serra). We then start a right turn to fly to our Exit transition point, which is the VOR SCB on heading 317. We are in NINVU at 219 knots of speed. A detail is that at this point it is not allowed to fly above 250 knots.

At 14,000 feet and with 208 knots, we arrive at VOR Sorocaba (VOR SCB), this is our transition point and entry of low altitude airway W30 (Whiskey Três Zero) that will take us to RAO. The PR-PDL then begins the right turn to VOR RAO heading 011 via W30 airway.

Once the aircraft is stabilized on a cruise flight flying at 16 thousand feet, the on-board service begins. That for a short flight lasting an hour, we think it's valid and super economical. The options were chips, peanuts and drink in water or citrus soda options.

Flying close to São Carlos and between cities close to Descalvado, the PR-PDL begins to start the descent procedure to land in RAO.

The aircraft is vectored to perform the approach and landing procedure in Ribeirão Preto called RNAV RWY 36.

At 10:55 am, the ATR-72 touches down through runway 36 in Ribeirão Preto and clears the runway through the last taxiway “A” (Alpha), then taxiing took place by Bravo to the passenger terminal.

Upon arriving at the terminal, the PR-PDL received beautifully the traditional baptism of water for in reference to the inaugural flight “Congonhas-RAO”.

Our return flight took place at around 5 pm after suffering delay of the ATR-72-200 operated by MAP, registration PR-MPY, which respectfully this aircraft is already “well flown” in our country.
