Emirates Santiago de Chile debuts via São Paulo

Emirates launched the new destination five times a week from Dubai (DXB) to Santiago International Airport (SCL), with a stopover in São Paulo / Guarulhos (GRU), marking the airline's arrival in Chile for the first time.

Hubert Frach, senior vice president of commercial operations at Emirates, West said: “We are delighted to see the interest in this new route.  since it was announced in late January, reflected in strong bookings to and from Santiago. Santiago is a very popular leisure and business destination, and this new service will offer customers across our global network, especially from inbound markets such as the Far East, Middle East and West Asia, a great travel option to America and South."

 

“The new service will also give Chilean travelers the opportunity to experience superior Emirates products and services and provide them with more convenient travel options with Emirates to São Paulo, Dubai and destinations across our network,” he added.

 

“The arrival of the Emirates in Chile is an important symbol of confidence in the country, for our authorities and for how Groupe ADP, VINCI Airports and Astaldi Concessioni, through Nuevo Pudahuel, are setting a new standard of service at Arturo Merino Benítez Airport. We are proud that Emirates accepted our proposal because it will not only change forever the way Chileans travel to the Middle East, but also because we are strengthening our relationships with our operators,” said Nicolas Claude, CEO Nuevo Pudahuel.

 

Emirates' newly refurbished Boeing 777-200LR operates the new route

 

The aircraft deployed on the route is the Boeing 777-200LR recently refurbished by Emirates, which offers 38 seats in Business Class in a 2-2-2 layout and 264 in Economy Class. Although the Business Class seats have the same design and shape as the latest Emirates seats, they have now gained two centimeters in width for a more comfortable ride. The seats retain the champagne-colored finish, diamond pattern in a full leather cover, and the ergonomically designed headrest on the newer Boeing 777 business class seats unveiled by Emirates in November.

 

In addition, the new Executive Class cabin has a social area - exclusive to the Boeing 777-200LR fleet. The mini lounge area offers snacks such as snacks, sandwiches and fruit, as well as drinks for customers during the flight. Economy Class seats aboard the 777-200LR have also been upgraded to the latest gray and soft blue color palette. Ergonomically designed seats come with leather headrests. Customers can enjoy up to 3,500 channels of on-demand entertainment with 600 movies, over 200 hours of TV and thousands of music tracks. The aircraft is also equipped with Wi-Fi and live TV in all classes. Business Class passengers also benefit from a private chauffeur service in Dubai.

 

Flight details and connections

 

Flight EK263 departs Dubai on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays at 9:05 am local time, arriving in São Paulo at 5:00 pm, at 6:30 pm it continues to Santiago with landing at 9:40 pm on the same day. Return flight EK264 departs Santiago on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays at 1:10 am local time, arriving in São Paulo at 5:55 am, at 7:45 am EK 264 takes off towards Dubai, arriving at 5:15am the next day, connecting to flights to many points in addition to the extensive network of Emirates and Flydubai partners.

 

The new service's schedules have been programmed to provide seamless connections to many routes in Asia and the Middle East via a convenient stop in Dubai. Passengers traveling from São Paulo can benefit from a morning departure in São Paulo and a morning arrival in Dubai, making it convenient to connect to new destinations in Southeast Asia, China, Turkey, Egypt, the Middle East, Africa and Europe.

 

Chile is a popular destination for business and leisure travelers around the world, particularly from Asian destinations such as China, South Korea, Japan, Thailand and India. Chile is also home to large Chinese and Middle Eastern communities that can now take advantage of the new service.

 

The new service will make Emirates fly five more times a week to São Paulo, complementing the daily A380 flight between Dubai and São Paulo. In total, Emirates now flies 12 times a week to São Paulo. The Emirates flight to Santiago is an interconnected service with São Paulo, which means customers in South America can travel between the two cities in unprecedented style and comfort. Citizens of Brazil and Chile only need identification cards to travel to any country.

Emirates' new route also supports increased demand for trade between Chile and the UAE, with Emirates SkyCargo offering up to 14 tonnes of air cargo capacity for Chilean exports such as fish, seafood, cherries, flowers and perishable products in general.
